Da Daily 7/14/2010

Howzit everyone. Were Leeward bound today to search for expansion areas for our business. At the house, Yuri and his wife is doing an excellent job on our sustainable garden. I'll post pics soon. Check them out online for all your sustainable/green needs. I'm not going to post any financial/stock news today since I'm late on the post but I'm sure you can find it elsewhere if you need it. Here's the daily...

BP in Limbo
BP is unsure if capping plan will go ahead.

India's inflation accelerated in June, increasing pressure on the central bank to raise interest rates for a second time this month. BTW, if your looking for growth, I hear Singapore is forecasting 15% for their economy.

Big Boy Action
Bailed out small banks face takeover risk... but then again, wasn't that the plan?

Worldly Pressures
Howz Dem Sinkholes? Were we just oblivious to the fact that so many pop up everyday or is it increasing on the daily? I dunno?
Talk about pressure changes... this one tried to take on a car in St. Louis and this one took the whole car and wants a condo while it's at it.

Bloodsuckers Giving Back
You know what's crazy? I fricken hate mosquito's, with a passion. I seeks out and destroys them, every chance I get. Which reminds me... them mofo's are getting out of control in Florida, as more than 1,000 are exposed to Dengue Fever. Punk a$$ mosquito's... speaking of punks

ObamaCare's
It's really on. Feds publish final eHealth 'Meaningful Use' rules.

Lucky Your Alive
This week, I was chatting with a friend about luck. We were talking about some of our beliefs on the subject. When I was younger, I would argue that all luck could be made by an intense desire met with persistent action toward attaining a goal. As I grew older (and hopefully wiser), I learned that my previous thoughts on it were true, but also that some luck was pure coincidental. Take for instance, the businessman born in America or the businessman born in Zimbabwe. One is already born into a more 'lucky'  environment than the other... wouldn't you agree? Some people just have a ton of luck. Here's a lady that won the lotto 4... yes, 4 times! To win the lotto once is luck, but to win the lotto 4 times? Isn't she the 'luckiest' of all the lucky lotto winners? I'd say. So ask yourself, if we are born with a certain degree of luck, how can we exploit it? I believe there is and will only be one of you, ever. That alone is luck... being one of a kind. I believe that whatever it is that you 'feel' compelled to do in life at any time, you should just do. Luck will be on your side. Don't fear it. Fear prevents us form exhausting our inborn luck. Inborn luck is part of our destiny. Yeah, all this luck talk is a little deep but it's from my hot ("heart" strongly expressed in the beautiful Pidgin' language).

News 7/13/2010

Howzit people! Got a lot going on today as we are wrapping up on a JV we had going on since late last month. Things to see and people to do/people to see and things to do. Stuff li'dat. OK, here goes...

As of this writing, stocks are rallying...

Eureeka!
Gold is up again... after Portugal's debt downgrade. Every adversity has an equal or greater benefit. Find it, and you'll do good no matter what you do.

Unbalanced Trade Action
US International Trade in Goods and Services are upside down... highest trade gap in 18 months.

Economic East vs West
Products made in China often costs more than those made in the west. Everyone, put on your Mack 10 face and say, Wessssside!

Money Is Only Easy For The Big Boyz
Small companies denied as big firms thrive... it's funny, when we really need 'easy money' we can't get it, but when we don't, it's available. Well, I guess in the deflationary period that were in, it won't matter anyway. Pfffffff... (deflating balloon sound)

Majority of Americans are losing faith in Obama. Talk about pressure... whew, I wouldn't want to be a president. Too many to please, not enough pay.

This is a good read. America Builds an Aristocracy.

Tehran and Washington Tensions
Missing Iranian nuclear scientist, Shahram Amiri, is taking refuge in US Embassy at Pakistan. All this building up of tension leads me to still believe it's not a matter of it... but when. It seems war is inevitable. According to Fidel Castro, the US is provoking war with Iran. Russian and Iranian officials are discussing collab's in the energy sector while Iran may cut gasoline imports 75% due to international sanctions imposed on their nuclear energy plans. Speaking on energy, Oil Smuggling seems to be big business.

Oh Ship!
Gaza bound Libyan aid ship 'Amalthea' is still on course despite Israel warning them to dock in Egypt's el-Arish port. The ship is carrying humanitarian aid supplies and is welcome for Israeli's to board and inspect the ship for weapons. Don't forget what recently happened to Turkey.

Getting Capped
The new cap on the Deepwater Horizon runaway well has been installed! Now BP will test to see if the gusher can be completely contained. The new offshore drilling ban is in place and the Coast Guard has new procedures for media access to cover the goo.

D-Mentia
Lots of excercise, drinking tea, and Vitamin D, could help thwart off Alzheimer's. Big up Honolulu!

Oh BTW, I really, really want this, and I think my genius cousin Aaron can get it to work. 3 days left. Too many opportunities in front of me. It's nice being on the B-I side of Kiyosaki's cash-flow quadrant... not to mention waking up to the Koolau's (even though it's dark out at 2:30am) and appreciative living in beautiful Hawaii. Teeeehu!

Stay Strong and Aloha Always!

News 7/6/2010

I hope you had crazy fun on the 4th! We sure did! It's Hawaii... Food, Fun, and Fireworks... Yee Doggy!!! Next one comes New Years Eve... can't wait! Were out to the North Shore today so before we hit the road here's the Grindman daily...

 1. The Markets

H
ere's a great read if you got the time. It's by Robert Prechter, a market forecaster who says:

'Winter is coming. Buy a coat,' he said. "Other people are advising people to stay naked. If I'm wrong, you're not hurt. If they're wrong, you're dead. It's pretty benign advice to opt for safety for a while."

I agree Robert... safety first.

...and Dow repeats Great Depression patterns: charts.

Oh, BTW... the markets are rallying this morning. Gold and Silver are still taking cracks (which means now's the time for a deal... but THIS IS NOT TRADING ADVICE) and oil is up which leads me to...

 2. BP
Costs for the Gulf of Mexico oil spill climbed to just over $3 billion, BUT imagine what it costs us humans, our future, and our childrens futures. Far more, my friends, far more.

...and here is some not good news about how BP refinery in Texas City, Texas spewed tens of thousands of pounds of toxins into the skies a couple of weeks before the GOM accident. It doesn't seem like this really important news is getting any love whatsoever from the mainstream.

...and as of this writing, every state in the Gulf Of Mexico has been hit, as Texas tar balls are found.

Oh... and Miami is about 6 weeks out to being impacted by oil.

So... now (and we've been talking about this for a while), should BP nuke the well?

 3. Poland
So their president dies in a plane crash... and their newly elected is related to all the EU monarchs. Incredible... How can Grindman get in the fam too. Times is hod baby, times is hod. Especially, when democracy doesn't really exist.

 4. Is War Imminent?
Sorry to bum your trip guys, but Iran has moved radars to Syria that can provide early warning of an Israeli attack which means that if your Israel, your probably under even more pressure to attack because having those radars coordinated against you wouldn't be too good.

...and Iranian planes are getting fuel, which no one wants to deal with since no one wants to be accountable for fueling their almost nuke capable (or already nuke capable) war machines.

...and Prez Obama and Israeli Prime Min Netanyahu to hold fence-mending talks, tying the allies back together.

Oh... and Iran threatens oil routes as the prez signs tough new energy sanctions.

...and Oh, Fidel keeps reflecting on the grim outlook of things to come... an impossible happiness.

Is war imminent? You decide. Just remember, if they pop it off, oil prices, as well as a lot of other things will skyrocket, BUT also keep in mind, that if the oil in the Gulf of Mexico is accepted as abiotic, then that would mean that our energy crisis may not really be a crisis, since there's tons of oil gushing right now. I guess that's why Saudi's are halting oil exploration to save wealth. Because we thrive on the bad... usually (being beary bear-like in my nature has no bad's since bad is good), I suspect our portfolio rising soon... Oh and all this talk is NOT INVESTMENT ADVICE, WHATSOEVER!!!

 5. Shorting Food
Yes... food shortages are looming. If I was you, I'd be definitely perfecting my green thumb. When the doo doo hits the spinning thingy on the ceiling, all you'll want is water/food, energy, and some portable homely conveniences, which is why I suggest you start gardening now!!!

 6. Wish I Could Be On a Cruise Ship Around Easter Island This Sunday... Shucks! I'm going to miss the Total Solar Eclipse. Ah, I'll probably shpock it on the tube but it would definitely be a sight to see in person, wouldn't it?

2010 Total Solar Eclipse Global Map

Sunday, I'm prolly going to be in front of a computer with high-speed access which could be easily accessed on a cruise ship, but I guess that defeats the whole purpose of cruising. Well, at least to me... Business IS Pleasure. I cruise all day anyway.

Stay Strong and Aloha Always,

Talk About An Attack On Precious Metals... Wow! Yesterday Had Action! Just Remember This And I Think You'll Be OK. Currency Can Be Printed, Gold Cannot. It's That Simple. If You Wanted Gold (or Silver, Which Is Constantly Used), You Might Wanna Cop It Soon... Son.

 1. Oh Sh nap, Looks Like The Unemployment Rate Has Dropped To 9.5%! Oh, And The Civilian Labor Force Dropped By 652,000 For The Month. What Happened To All Of Our Graduates? Maybe, Everyone's An Entrepreneur (Ya, Right). Think About It... If The Labor Force Didn't Drop By 652,000, Then We'd Have 154,393,000 Which Would Change The Employment Rate To 90.10% So The Unemployment Rate Would Really Be 9.9%. Shhhnap! Numbers Don't Lie... Just The Vermin Behind Them.

Now Let Me Ask You... Why Does The CES Net Birth/Death Model Point To A Fresh New 24,000 Construction Jobs When The Housing Numbers Look The Way They Look? (Which Are Down... Oh Yup, Way Down!) By The Looks Of It, 'Hospitality And Leisure' Might Be The Business You'd Like To Be In, Since It's At 80,000. I Guess Everyone Needs To Escape The Madness Sometime.

 2. Depressing... Ahem, I Mean Depression.
This Is A GREAT Read On The Big D. Trust... If You Lost Your Job, Your House, and Your Mind Recently... There's Much More Coming. Which Way You See It Will Determine How You Take It. Ya Know? Cup Half Empty, Cup Half Full Type Stuff. Here's A Good Read Also.

 3. War, Maybe? The Anatomy Of An Attack On Iran May Be A Predict. Focus On The Sentence That Reads... "The likely route to Iran, beginning at regional dusk preferably in the dark a new moon, is to fly a great circle around Iraq. " Then Go Take A Look At When That New Moon Occurs. 7-11 May Not Be As Lucky As You Thought... Oh, Crap!

...and North Korea Might Get A Little Perturbed When The US And China Are Playing 'Chicken' In The Yellow Sea.

 4. Talk About Censorship. Facebook Deleted Boycott BP's Account. How Ya Gonna Act? Still Fresh On The Subject, Head On Over To Read "Guess Who Wants To Kill The internet?".

 5. Sorry Cali, But Ah-Nold Orders Minimum Wage For State Workers. This Is What Happens In The Absence Of A State Budget. Hasta La Vista... Baby!

Oh, Someone Asked Why I Type Every Word Starting With A Capital Letter. I Dunno? Maybe, I Just like Capital. Nah, Of Course I Like Capital... Well, I guess I could shift.

Today, I'll be checking on some business ops around town. BTW, shout out to Randy at Hidecal. He's been holding our die-cut decal action down for a while. Go check out his company as he is a proud sponsor of WeAreHI.com

Although Krystilez holds it down now and has been doing a damn good job of holding down WeAreHI for a minute, I created the site back in 2009 as a central hub for the global Urban Island Culture (which is what Hawaii evolved to... a best of both world's). It was a way for us to launch our Urban island lifestyle products and help others do so as well. The site has definitely been entertaining... Ta Ta Tuesday and Watchufucka Wedensday being my favorites.

Anyhoo, Happy Happy Aloha Friday and Have an Enjoyable 4th, and I'll See You Back Here On Tuesday!

Aloha Friday!

Aloha Friday, hmmm... there's something special about Aloha Friday's. It's the prequel to Saturday, which either means we work more or less. Either way, it's awesome ending another week and beginning the next and it usually 'feels' (at least to me) different than the rest of the days in the week because of that.

O-tay, to kick things off, Krystilez, Malu, and I had an incredible meeting over breakfast here, which brings me to my 1st entry of the day. Because our discussion was between us, I won't go into great detail, but one of the things that I can and should bring up is the self-imposed limit of fear.

Fear, as it was explained to me is, "false evidence appearing real". Although 'intelligence and/or love' should motivate us to act... it's usually 'ignorance and/or fear' that gives us that boost we need to move forward. Fear causes action.

Because I'm a finance guy, here's your good ol' tip of the day: "Be greedy when others are fearful and be fearful when others are greedy" - Warren Buffett.

Yes, I'm a moke, and yes, I wear slippah's to business meetings, and yes, I talk pidgin', BUT... I am No fool and that quote keeps reminding me of when to act. By the way, I love what I do and if fear is what causes me to act than so be it.

Yip, it's a short post today, but I gotta buy some stuff for the young'n and make Longs a part of my day.

Aloha Friday, and I really, really, really can't wait till Monday (hint... remember the quote above).

Well, Stay Strong and Aloha Always,

2 Cent Saturday... Get Some!

Today is a beautiful Saturday. It's also the Sabbath so I won't get into all the work stuff. Yup, this is the day I rest and eat ice cream. I figured I'd at least drop a special note for Hoi Polloi.

Some major revolutions are underway. Greece, yeah we know. What about Thailand, where they took it to live fire level, or Russia, or the follow up on India, or Xinjiang, where limiting access to Grindman.com makes for some ugliness... OK, it's a joke, but you get where I'm going with this. Hoi Polloi took cracks and is returning the favor worldwide.

If we had more of these guys, our future might look brighter or least more Honest & Refreshing. Take a peek!

Bank of England says U.S. faces the same problems as Greece. Although that's the buzz, I'm pretty sure the Euro will collapse before the dollar sees it's elevator down. OK, I know I said I wouldn't get into any work stuff but I'll hint you on something... which takes me back to a quote in Napoleon Hill's, "Think and Grow Rich". It kinda goes like this; With each and every adversity comes the seed of an equal or greater benefit. In other words, you could also say, when things go down, other things go up.

I was chatting with my man Stilez last night, and he reminded me of a quote, "The Meek shall inherit the Earth". He reminded me of what "Meek" meant. This statement has a lot of bearing on me since 'I Holds It Down For Hoi Polloi'. If you can maintain your financial intelligence through all of this global hooplah, you can profit handsomely, for the Meek will most likely end up buying the Earth at this rate.

Now, on to other news in my 2 cent report...

Yep, their out there. We are not alone. Alien's communicating with us? Although it's been downplayed as a glitch, Stephen Hawking has some knowledge to drop on us all about our space neighbors. Trust... when were ready, they'll be.

Good 'Ol Bill Gates is going head on with Mama Nature. Could this be Microsoft's next big thing? Who knows, this could be Genius or Insanity. I was taught the thin line between both is thinning. All I gotta say is Mama Nature had about enough of us, which leads me to the Big Kahuna...

This interesting comparison should clear things up. Then again, what happens if they can't stop it?

I will be taking it easy for the rest of the day... maybe catch a Princess Kaiulani movie or something. They wanted to name it the Barbarian Princess, imagine that? The review is here.

Well, Stay Strong and Aloha Always,

Grindman

Metal Head (Ingot I Trust)

Gold is having it's day of awesomeness! As of this writing, the shiny metal is at $1244 oz. Can you say... NIIICE! It has gone past it's current contract high due to people waking up to the sound of paper money printers hard at work, churning out more and more fiat currency and devaluing their already worthless playper. Makes me think of Gresham's Law. Also today, Silver 'Poor Man's Gold' is doing nice at $19.65 oz. I was 'lucky' enough to dive into another chunk of physical Silver (OK... a BIG chunk) when it was in the $17's last week. I know $17's aren't what I was getting it for a few years back, but I add to the collection when I can... or maybe, when I should. Whew, Glad I did! I don't gamble, but when things uncannily align themselves, I goes 'all in'. In fact, I have a 'theory' which I'll unveil later to inquiring minds, on how Universe and everything in it is synchronized and harmoniously balanced (duh!). It allows for some 'future knowing' of financial, weather, political events, etc... I'll get more into it later.

Now onto our Mama Nature's side of things...

I wonder why there's 'no press allowed' to cover the Gulf of Mexico's Oil Spill? Compared with the Exxon Valdez disaster, we can estimate that in July (if it's not 'fixed'), the GOM slick will be greater in size, by August 1st it will double, by September 22nd it will triple, and by November 12th it will quadruple!

I'll be working in the garden today with cuzzin' Malu and my agronomist, Yuri. Hey, hedging can be done in other things other than The Market like... food costs, food shortages, things li'dat. Anyways, Stay Strong and Aloha Always!!!
